Working title: The Makeable World

This animation is about the change of the world that is currently taking place at a fast pace. Thanks to the actions of humans, and despite all the knowledge and science that has been built up, a world threatens to arise in which a worldwide (climate) crisis.

People think that the world is ‘makeable’ and since the 19th century the world has moved into an industrial gear in which production processes have gone faster and faster. In the 20th century, the world has changed even more radically due to commercialization and digitization. An unlivable world threatens to arise if we continue to live on this large footing. In this animation I go back to the creation of the world, in which the world still consisted entirely of water.

Maybe it’s a bit much, but I want to visualize this process through animation. Not by using obvious or clichéd images, but by giving my imagination free rein, leaving room for the viewer to form their own opinion. I want to show how crazy and absurd the world has become, where babies come out of test tubes, where everything can be controlled digitally and where robots take over human tasks and behavior, such as even care and love.

By I don’t want to impose a point of view on images and sound, but to show my vision of this crazy, absurd ‘makeable world’. A world that will hopefully return to a more organic and natural approach.

Werktitel: De maakbare wereld

Deze animatie gaat over de verandering van de wereld die momenteel in een hoog tempo plaats vindt. Dankzij het toedoen van de mens, en ondanks alle kennis en wetenschap die opgebouwd is,  is er een wereld ontstaan waarin een wereldwijde (klimaat) crisis dreigt.

De mens denkt dat de wereld ‘maakbaar’ is en de wereld is sinds de 19e eeuw in een industriele versnelling gekomen waarin productieprocessen steeds sneller zijn gegaan. In de 20e eeuw is de wereld door commercialisering en digitalisering is de wereld nog ingrijpender veranderd. Er dreigt een onleefbare wereld te ontstaan als we op deze grote voet zo doorleven. In deze animatie ga ik terug naar de creatie van de wereld, waarin de wereld nog helemaal uit water bestond.

Misschien is het wat veel hooi op mijn vork, maar ik wil dit proces via animatie visualiseren. Niet door voor de hand liggende of clichematige beelden te gebruiken maar door mijn fantasie de vrije loop te laten waarmee er ruimte is voor de kijker om een eigen mening te vormen. Ik wil laten zien hoe doorgedraaid en absurd de wereld geworden is, waar babys uit reageerbuizen komen, waar alles digitaal regelbaar is en waar robots menselijke taken en gedragingen overnemen, zoals zelfs zorg en liefde.
